About Ed
Harp technician and regulator, T. Edward “Ed” Galchick, began his career in the harp service business in 1975 at Lyon & Healy’s New York office where he remained until the office was discontinued in 1979. He also pursued harp study during these years privately with Lucien Thomson to enhance what he believed would be his future career. Ed learned the art of harp regulation with Samuel Milligan privately in 1976 and later spent time at the Lyon & Healy factory in Chicago training to become their East Coast Service Representative. He was transferred to the Chicago office in 1979 and held a variety of positions through 1987 including U.S. Service Representative and Customer Service Manager.
Ed's credentials
Ed attained the title of master regulator/technician after years of dedicated and diverse experiences in the harp factory. In 1987, he formed an independent on-site regulation service and travels extensively throughout North America. Ed has served as an American Harp Society (AHS) conference technician, technical advisor, and scheduler; has conducted workshops at conferences, and serves as harp technician at many competitions. In January 2006, Ed became an authorized member of the newly founded Lyon & Healy/Salvi Technicians Guild. He is also authorized to provide services (including warranty regulations) for most other makes of pedal harps. With over thirty years experience, Ed has the longest active tenure in this field!
